erostratus - reeling
Erostratus' reeling clashes, explores, destroys and creates buildings, landscapes, outer space, guitars, drums and vocals in a black and white, pseudo-pointillism, 2.5D style reminiscent of German Expressionism and Alchemy. Whew! I had a blast getting to put this crazy piece of grayscale tessellation together. From filming the band on a makeshift greenscreen in their practice space to an endless string of the most bonkers ideas I could fathom all in one place. Featured on the design blog BOOOOOM and beyond. WATCH!
sand - haggard hawk
90s Nostalgiapocalypse in a desert rock setting. This one was for one of my favorite musicians named Dylan Ryan, check out this band of his (SAND) but also Bronze, which is excellent Chicago influenced and (originally) based pop rock for your yacht or car cassette player. But enough about Dylan, this is my website, and this is the video I put together for his song Haggard Hawk. Dylan mentions his Hawkwind collection in the lyrics of this song, and while I was around negative 4 when Hawkwind formed, I think Dylan was maybe 8? So I thought of the ideal post-apocalyptic world for 8-year-old fans of Hawkwind and the like. It’s filled with blood, guts and skip-its.
great ghost - take me to your healer
Pill poppin' in fully realized 3D. Sean came to me with his new mixtape and I was feeling it! I put this together with the club scene in mind where I could see this playing. While I’m something of a square myself, I’ve spent enough time around burn-outs and people who take drugs to know that many times they seem to have a complex about their drugs running out. I made this to think about how even when you have a ton of drugs or pills, drugs are still bad. No, I’m just kidding, I made this because I figured out how to do a lot of cool stuff in Cinema4D and wanted to show it off. But I am serious about drugs being bad, kids.
landlady - if this Room Could Talk
When you enter into a relationship with someone, the neurons in your head build around a new idea. They start to take up every part of your brain. Waking up? Oh man, that person used to be in this bed. Eating breakfast? Oh man, they ate stuff too! Soon they’re taking over every part of you. I made this video for Landlady to explore this idea of people building rooms in you, but also that sometimes we build rooms/blocks around our emotions. How do we break them down and how do we then find the ones we love? I dunno, but still watch the vid!
eskape - vertigo drift
There’s no band that pulls off their love of videogames and action movies better than Vertigo Drift. I saw a show of theirs late one night in Brooklyn and knew I had to make a music video for them. They had a new concept album coming out, so we got to talking about a video and I made this strange action packed set of sequences for them heavily influenced by the animes, action shows and videogames they so dearly love.
